The
World Health Organization estimates that the eyesight of one
fourth of the world’s population can be improved through
the use of corrective lenses. Unfortunately for many, a pair of
eyeglasses is both unaffordable and inaccessible.
"The Lions
collect over 5 million pairs of used eyeglasses each year for
distribution in developing countries." Source: Lions Clubs International.
The general public is encouraged to donate
their eyeglasses and sunglasses to their local Lions club or
to send them to one of the 13 regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling
Centers. For further information, visit the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank website, contact the NE
Lions, or your local Lions
club.
